Food hampers for families in poverty

Bookmark and Share

During the year at Wood Street the main area of our care it has to be said are those who are homeless and those who as individuals have fallen on hard times. That however does not mean that we are not aware that in our city there are many families who are living in deprivation and poverty. It is to those that we have mounted our Christmas 2012 initiative.

Our target is 400 hampers of basic essentials and in partnership with Sure Start these hampers will be distributed to families living below the poverty line week commencing Monday 17th December.

There is a  basic hamper list and then extras can be added from an additional list.

Several organizations are making hampers, these include WDH, Pilgrim homes, students at Kettlethorpe High School, New Life Christian Centre and Holroyd and Miller, to name but a few.

We hope that the love and care that has gone into each hamper will go into each recipient home and they will have a blessed Christmas.

And so ------ week commencing 17th December 450 hampers were delivered to the Sure Start agencies and in turn to families in need.

Thank you to everyone who helped!
